Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam are still hoping to renew youngster Brian Brobbey’s contract amid interest from Italian giants AC Milan.
Marc Overmars, director of player policy, said this after Sébastien Haller was signed by the club.
Asked what Haller’s arrival mean for Brobbey’s future, he said: “With Brobbey we have been working for a long time to renew,” Overmars told Ajax TV.
“We still want to, but we haven’t succeeded yet. He has an expiring contract and it is his right to talk to other clubs.”
It is not without reason that Overmars has set an extra striker with Haller.
“It is my responsibility that there will soon be a striker with quality and not that we will have nothing on January 30. You have to make choices for that. Then quickly bring this forward and hit what was possible.”
Brobbey, 18, could be on his way to the Italian Serie A after his agent Mino Raiola confirmed talks with the Italian club who have made the youngster a winter transfer target.
