Renowned Ghanaian Boxing Trainer Carl Lokko has admitted Amateur Boxing will be greatly affected with the demise of Amateur Boxing Federation President Gideon Quartey.
His demise has come as a shock to the leadership of the sporting federation as the founder of the Dade Boxing Club Gym was expected to cast his vote on Wednesday during the GOC congress.
Quartey will be remembered for enhancing amateur boxing in the country, leading to the discovery of the likes of WBC Bantamweight Champion Duke Micah.
Lokko who is the trainer of Lightweight boxer Richard Commey insists Quartey’s absence is a major blow to the boxing fraternity.
“Gideon Quartey’s demise will affect boxing in this country especially amateur boxing because he did a lot for the nation and its there for all to see”Lokko told Starr FM
