Former Asante Kotoko captain Amos Frimpong has backed the Ghanaian giants to play in next season’s CAF Champions League.
The Porcupine Warriors’ decision to participate in the African interclub competition has been the subject of scrutiny by the public following the suspension of football activities in Ghana as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
A lot of issues have been raised about the club’s preparation and their financial capabilities to participate in the competition but Frimpong who served the club for almost a decade has backed the Reds to represent the country in the tournament.

”Such decisions are normally taken by the board of directors, management and technical term. Using coach CK Akonnor’s era where we were not active, the management took a bold decision for us to represent Ghana. We even exceeded our target by qualifying for the group stage,” Frimpong told Hello FM.
”We seem to have the same situation at the moment so if the leadership assesses the strength of the team and decides to play in Africa, I think it is in the right direction.
”When we play in Africa, it raises the value of the players where some even get better offers for the club to earn something.
”So if the board decides to allow the team to take the opportunity, it is good,” he concluded.
Amos Frimpong recently ended his contract with Guinea top-flight side, AS Kaloum Star.
