Antoine Griezmann (25) has been voted French Player of the Year 2016, announced Monday by the weekly France Football .
The Atlético de Madrid player, who succeeds the Parisian Blaise Matuidi, is the 59th winner of this individual award awarded by a jury composed mainly of former winners.
Griezmann, the unfortunate finalist of the Champions League and the Euro (of which he was the best player and top scorer), finished third at the 2016 Golden Ball on Monday, behind Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) and Argentinian Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona).
