Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo has opened up about his difficult journey to football success, revealing how rejection almost ended his dream.
The Bournemouth winger said he was rejected by Crystal Palace, a moment that left him “disheartened and unsure of his future.” But he added, “That setback only made me hungrier. I told myself I had to prove them wrong.”
Semenyo, who did not come through any elite academy, started his football journey playing in college leagues before earning a professional chance at Bristol City.
He explained, “I didn’t have the pathway most players had. I had to learn in my own way — on the streets, at college, and by watching others.”
Today, that hunger has paid off. Antoine Semenyo is now one of the Premier League’s most exciting forwards, standing second only to Erling Haaland in goals this season.
