Antonio Conte calms fears of Tottenham exit & confirms Daniel Levy talks

Antonio Conte has moved to calm fears he could quit Tottenham, also revealing he has spoken with chairman Daniel Levy after his extraordinary outburst at Burnley in midweek.

Having stunned Manchester City at the Etihad with a 3-2 victory, Spurs then fell to a lame 1-0 defeat at Turf Moor on Wednesday, prompting Conte to claim he was ready to quit his role if the partnership could not be a fruitful one.

While there remain doubts over whether he will be in north London next season, the Italian has insisted he remains committed to Tottenham and admitted his outburst was one fuelled by emotion.

“Daniel Levy knows very well that I’m here to help the club in every moment and will help the club until the end. This is the reality. He knows this. He knows we’re working very hard, he has great consideration of my job and we speak.

“When you lose a game, I’m not the person to go to have dinner with. When I lose a game my mood is very bad, I prefer to stay alone and metabolise the defeat. For sure I need one day to recover – at least.”

“Yes, I spoke to Daniel Levy. Our chairman knows very well that I’m here to help the club in every moment. I will do that until the end. That’s the reality and he knows that we’re working hard. He has great consideration about our job and the job of my staff.

“I repeat I want to help the club with every aspect.

“He shows me great consideration every day and for this reason, I’m committed to this club much more because I know the consideration for me is very high.”

Conte also weighed up the pros and cons of a project like Tottenham, admitting he would like to have a strong foundation already in place as opposed to building one from the ground up.

He added: “Here is a great experience because you have to build from the foundation – it’s good to be totally involved in building a new structure. On the other hand, for sure there is the will to have a [strong] situation already made.”

Spurs are in action again in Saturday’s early kick-off when they face fellow out of form side Leeds at Elland Road.
