Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has revealed that the flight delay the team ecountered moving from their camping base in Al Ain to Port-Gentil on Friday 13th January for the Africa Cup of Nations affected their physical conditions in the Uganda game.
Ghana won the game 1-0 thanks to Andre Ayew’s 31st minute goal from the spot.
The team had their flight delayed due to bad weather and arrived in Port-Gentil later on Saturday where the team trained twice on Sunday and Monday before taking on the Cranes of Uganda who landed in Port-Gentil earlier.
“No excuses but I just want to put this down. We got here very late, you know we were jet lagged and we didn’t also play lot of friendly games during our preparation. I think it affected our physical conditioning a bit but we have played the first game and I think the second game will be much better than the first one ” Asamoah Gyan told Metro FM’s reporter Gariba Raubil who also writes for Sportsworldghana.com.
