Ghana legend Rev Osei Kofi has urged iconic striker Asamoah Gyan to quit the Black Stars as he has greatly paid his dues.
Gyan has not been invited to the senior national team since he featured at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The former Sunderland striker lost his captaincy to Andre Ayew, before the tournament and was handed a General captain role by former coach Kwasi Appiah.
But he was overlooked by Charles Akonnor when he recently announced new leadership for the team.
Akonnor scrapped the general captain position, making Ayew a substantive captain with Thomas Partey and Richard Ofori as his two deputies.
This according to the 1965 AFCON winner, says clearly demonstrates that Gyan is not in the plans of the coach.
“Good name is better than riches and if Gyan will listen to me, he should quit the Black Stars because he is not the Gyan we use to know”
“I think he should honourably resign from the team to save his name,” he told Angel FM.
The 34-year-old has scored 51 goals in 109 appearances for Ghana.
He is currently on the hunt for a new club following a temporary contract with Indian outfit NorthEast United which ended in January.
