‘Asamoah Gyan is my all-time best player’ – Rapper Medikal

Ghanaian rapper Samuel Adu Frimpong, popularly known as Medikal, has expressed his admiration for football legend Asamoah Gyan, naming him as his all-time favorite player.

During an interview on the Starr Chat Show with Bola Ray on Accra-based Starr FM on Thursday, May 23, 2024, Medikal praised Gyan, highlighting his significant contributions to Ghanaian football.

“Asamoah Gyan is my all time best player,” he said in affirmative. “You see he’s very skillful but he’s not all about being on the pitch and displaying the skills, he applies it when necessary. On any day, I will pick him over any player”

Gyan holds the record as Ghana’s top scorer with 51 goals and is the country’s second most-capped player, following Andre Ayew.

The 38-year-old Gyan has recently ventured into politics, joining the governing NPP’s campaign team ahead of the 2024 elections. In February, the former Sunderland striker was appointed as the chair of the party’s sub-committee on Youth and Sports, under Vice President Dr. Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer.

Gyan’s move into politics marks a new chapter in his post-football career, reflecting his influence beyond the pitch. In a recent revelation, Gyan shared that if he hadn’t pursued football, he might have become a lawyer or a musician.

The retired footballer has already explored the music industry, releasing popular songs with his friend Castro in the early 2010s. Gyan believes his skills in argumentation would have made him a successful lawyer.

Despite his achievements in sports and music, Gyan remains confident in his ability to excel in any chosen field, showcasing his versatile talents and ambition.
