A LEGAL practitioner, Mr Stephen Asante Bekoe, has been elected President of the Ghana Rowing and Canoeing Federation (GHROCAF) at an extraordinary congress held in Accra.
He was popularly acclaimed for the position since he was the sole candidate that applied for the position.
Mr. Kamal Sulley also retained his seat as Vice President by popular acclamation by delegates .Mr. Rashid Jajah too was maintained as Treasurer.
Mr. Ignatius O. Sowah who prior to the congress was the technical director of the federation rejected to be a board member but rather asked executives and delegates to be retained as the technical director .
Speaking to the press after the congress,an elated Asante Bekoe
is hopeful his outfit will receive maximum support from government.
“I am elated because i have built some solid foundation to the satisfaction of all and i think that i need to continue with the work”
“It’s our hope that this year government will assist us and so far the signs are positive so we are looking forward to good things “he added
The Deputy Director-General of the National Sports Authority (Technical), Mr Saaka Acquaye, who swore the new executives into office charged them to do well and lift the image of Ghana high in international competition.
He also promised his outfits maximum support for the federation .
Former National Sports Authority boss Madam Alice Attipoe was also elected by popular acclamation to be the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission to help raise more girls to join the sport as mandated by the World body.
