The Chief Executive Officer of Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko- Nana Yaw Amponsah is happy for the resumption of football in Ghana.
The leagues were put to a halt in March due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and subsequently, the season declared null and void.
Speaking during his COVID-19 update number 17 on Sunday, September 20, President Nana Addo announced that the resumption of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League and the Division One League will restart on Friday 30th October 2020.
The government placed an embargo on all football-related activities in March 2020 following the outbreak of the coronavirus in Ghana. This decision led to the cancellation of the 2019/2020 football season and as such, all records associated with it were expunged.
”With respect to football, after due consultations with the Ghana Football Association, it has been decided that the Ghana Premier League and the Division One Football League will restart on Friday, 30th October, with a full regime of testing of the players, technical and management staff,” the President said.
Clubs are expected to return to training this week and prepare for the campaign.
