Ghana Premier League heavyweights Asante Kotoko are reportedly closing in on the signing of Prince Badu, the 25-year-old defensive midfielder currently plying his trade at domestic rivals Nations FC.
The move comes as Kotoko sit atop the league table with 30 points from 16 games, narrowly leading on goal difference, with just one game remaining in the first round of the 2025/26 season. The Porcupine Warriors are keen to strengthen their squad for the championship push, and acquiring Badu would add steel to their midfield while weakening a direct competitor.
Badu has been a key figure for Nations FC this season, making 13 league appearances and scoring a crucial late winner in a 2-1 triumph over Heart of Lions three weeks ago. Nations FC currently occupy 12th place with 19 points, highlighting the impact of a potential departure.
Sources indicate that talks are in advanced stages, with Kotoko pushing to complete the transfer ahead of the league’s resumption. If finalized, the signing would underline Kotoko’s determination to maintain their position at the summit and send a clear message of intent to their rivals as they gear up for the second half of the campaign.
