The Ashanti Regional derby between Asante Kotoko and King Faisal takes place at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium during Match-Day 32 of the Ghana Premier League on Saturday as the two teams have exactly opposite ambitions towards the end of the season.
The Porcupine Warriors on one hand are title chasers – sitting second on the league table , 3 points adrift leaders Hearts of Oak whilst King Faisal on the other hand are relegation candidates as they occupy the uncomfortable position of 15th on 36 points.
Any drop of points by the club of Alhaji Karim Grusah from now till the end of the season could push them further down the relegation mire.
During their last league outings, Kotoko were defeated by Hearts of Oak in Accra whilst Faisal won 2-0 over Legon Cities.
King Faisal players had threatened to boycott training as they protest against their unpaid salaries but calm has been restored at the club ahead of the big game on Saturday.
Meanwhile Razak Ablaora, Yussif Mubarik and Moro Ibrahim who missed the game against Hearts of Oak are back in training and available for selection by Mariano Barreto.
