Obuasi Ashantigold came from a goal down to beat Elmina Sharks 4-2 at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium on Sunday afternoon during Week Five of the Ghana Premier League.
Ashantigold star attraction Hans Kwoffie was absent for this fixture as head coachj Milovan Cirkovic made four changes to his starting line up from the one that lost 2-1 in their CAF Confederation Cup second leg encounter against FC Salitas of Burkina Faso.
Influential midfielder Appiah McCarthy converted a free kick two minutes into the second half to bring his team level with the visitors who took a 4th minute lead through Benjamin Boateng.
Striker Boadu Dacosta – who started the game in the absence of main attacker Kwoffie – realized a terrific brace in seven minutes in the 60th and 67th minutes specifically to put Ashantigold in control of the game at 3-1.
Elmina Sharks scored reduced the deficit in the 84th minute through winger Benjamin Tweneboah to put some pressure on the home side with six times left to close the game.
But The Miners who were too strong for their opponents made things more difficult for the team of Yaw Achemapong as midfielder David Abagna reacted quickest to slot home the fourth goal for his side following a rebound in the area putting the game beyond Sharks in the 90th minute.
