Ashantigold head coach Roberto Landi has described Local Black Stars leading striker Mumuni Shafiu as surplus to requirement as captain of the Miners sees out his contract in Obuasi.
The Miners will be representing Ghana in the 2020/21 CAF Confederation Cup but Landi is looking beyond Mumuni who won the golden boot at the 2019 WAFU tournament in Senegal.
“The coach (Landi) says Mumuni is not part of his plans. I think he’s got a deal in Romania or so but for now he is not here. He is out of contract with us. ” Ashantigold CEO Emmanuel Frimong revealed on Fox FM on Wednesday.
Emmanuel Frimong however reveals the preparedness of the four-times Ghana Premier League winners to extend agreement with the experienced striker.
“He is out out contract here but we prepared a cheque for him so that he extends his stay. He was suppose to come for it but he has not been here since” the CEO revealed.
