The Chief Executive Officer of dethroned premier league champions Ashgold has denied media reports that the team owes its players.
There have been widespread reports this week to the effect that the Obuasi based club and Accra Hearts of Oak are yet to pay the salaries of their players for some months but Cudjoe Fianoo disclosed to Kumasi based Nhyira FM that salaries of the players have been settled.
The GHALCA boss asserted that to the best of his knowledge, there are no salaries arrears. He opined that salaries for September and October have been settled.
“As I speak to you now, we owe no player. The only players we owe are those who on trials hence not in the country. As at last Friday I signed cheques for the settlement of outstanding salaries and bonuses. I have also allocated monies for October salaries and bonuses”. Fianoo remarked.
Clubs owing players is unfortunately no news to Ghana football with sometimes players not being paid for more than three months.
There have been strong calls by media men on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to implement policies to curb the situation but nothing has been done so far.
