Asokwa Deportivo SC trusted defender, Edward Osei Asare was named Man-Of-The-Match in his team’s slim victory over Achiken FC on Saturday afternoon in Obuasi.
The Van Dijk-like defender has been a pivot for the mid-table team this season with a consistent powerful display in the Zone Two of the Ghana Division One League.
Asare was at his best in the heart of defense for the Asokwa-based team and constantly ended all the dangerous attacks by the away team who were determined to break the defense of the home team through the game.
With the 19-year-old providing a stable defense for Asokwa Deportivo SC, his colleagues were allowed to push forward and play their normal football due to the stability provided by the strong and powerful defender.
Samuel Obeng and Issah Mammud got two goals in both halves for the host but conceded a last-minute goal in a well-controlled and dominated game to win 2-1.
Due to his glaring showings in the frenetic and well-contested match, the young defender has adjudged the Most Valuable Player after the game end-to-end and pulsating encounter between the two Ashanti Region teams at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Saturday afternoon.
