Athletic Club de Bilbao star Inaki Williams mother, Madam Akua Antwiwaa has revealed reasons why her son is not playing for Ghana’s Black Stars.

In an exclusive interview with Sunyani-based Moonlight FM, the mother of Bilbao topsman, Antwiwaa stated that her son has refused to play for Ghana because of insult football loving fans in the country rain on the players.

According to her, she can not take the unwarranted insults from Ghanaians when her son join the Black Stars and they fail to win laurels at tournaments.

“I can’t take the insults and abuse Ghanaians give to their players after failed tournaments and games. It’s too much that parents of their players receive their own share of insults and abuses especially their mothers. Asamoah Gyan’s mum is a typical example.

As a mother, I can’t take the insults and abuse while my son is playing his heart out for his country.

On the other hand, the Athletic Bilbao star mother expressed her readiness to help the Ghana FA talk to his son to play for the West African giants.

“If the Ghana Football Association approaches me to help them, I will, despite the insults and abuse because Inaki recognises Ghana as his home country”, she said.

On why Inaki is so strong and has played over 175 consecutive games since 2015 for Athletic Bilbao without an injury; “He likes eating Ghanaian food. His favorite is Fufu and groundnut soup, it gives him energy. He likes Waakye and shito too”, she concluded.
