Ghana midfielder Thomas Teye Partey will not be joining Italian side AS Roma according to Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo.
Partey, 25, is reported to be on AS Roma’s radar as the winter transfer window inches closer.
The Black Stars forward who has not regularly enjoyed staring berth this season has been linked to some top clubs in Europe including Arsenal PSG and AS Roma.
The Serie A side are reported to have put the midfielder on their wish list as one of their potential signing in January.
But Enrique Cerezo has ruled out the player’s reported transfer to the Italian Club.
“Diego Costa in China and Thomas in Rome? How we travel!” Cerezo said, as reported by Romanews.
“Rest assured that we are not in the market [now] or [at any] other period. We are just focused on the team.
“We are in the round of sixteen in the Champions League. This year is important.
“We have always strengthened ourselves and I do not think we need to take [out] someone. Those we have now are almost irreplaceable.”
The Ghanaian international has become a key member of Diego Simeone’s squad since returning from a loan spell at Almería in 2015, winning last season UEFA Europa league and the Supper Cup.
