Borussia Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel has advised high-rated RSC Anderlecht winger Jeremy Doku not to hurriedly leave the Belgian Pro League for a top club in Europe.
Axel Witsel (31) says although Doku has huge potential to become a great footballer in the future, he should not be in a rush to leave Belgium for a top deal in Europe.
He believes Doku playing in the Belgian League for at least the next three or four years would help him develop well and become a starter at any club he decides to join in Europe.
“I have already seen a few matches of Doku,” Witsel told Nieuwsblad.
“He is a boy with a lot of talent. I advise him not to go abroad too soon. There he ends up in a top club. where he won’t play much.”
The promising winger is seen as one of the players who will eventually represent the new generation of the Belgian national team considering his immense progress in the Belgian Pro League.
“If he wants to make progress, he has to play. That is possible if he stays in Belgium for another two to three years. Playing a match every three to four days is great for such a young guy. I hope he will follow my advice. “Witsel added.
Doku, 18, is currently in the camp of the ‘Red Devils’ with Witsel after being handed his debut call up for their Euro Nations League.
