Former Ghana international Baba Adamu Armando has paid glowing tribute to departed Argentine legend Diego Armando Maradona who died on November 25, 2020.
The Ghanaian striker officially adopted the first name of “El Barillete” during his formative years as he learnt a lot from the global icon was down after hearing of his demise.
“It is a very sad day for me, growing up as footballer, he was the one I looked up to. He was my idol, he was my mentor.” Armando told sportsworldghana.com
“He is the best footballer the world has ever seen and no one can dispute that. He came, he saw, he conquered. He single-handedly won the world cup for Argentina in 1986 and at club level he was magnificent for Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli and Sevilla.”
Baba Armando currently resides in United Arab Emirates where he is the the sporting director of Al Falah FC.
