The former Ghana manager, believes the Black Stars team “can do a lot” at the 2022 FIFA World Cup which starts later this month in Qatar.
Having failed to qualify for the 2018 edition of the World Cup in Russia, the four-time African Champions secured qualification at the expense of rivals Nigeria and hope to make an incredible impact at the tournament.
In view of that, the Ghana FA put in god effort to have some Ghanaian born- abroad players who are excelling in their various leagues to represent their homeland at the tournament.
Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey, Inaki Williams of Athletic Club and German-born trio Stephan Ambrosius, Ransford Konigsdorffer and Patric Pfeiffer have all agreed to play for Ghana.
Southampton star Mohammed Salisu also confirmed his decision to represent Ghana last month.
And former Ghana gaffer Charles Kwablah Akonnor, believes the inclusion of the aforementioned players in the Black Stars team would go a long way to impact the performance of the team positively.
Speaking on Prime Take on Joy News channel, the former Ghana international was of the opinion the new players will help the Black Stars. “The boys can do a lot,” he said.
“What is, however, unfortunate is that they have not had enough time to gel and they won’t get that before the tournament.
“The friendly matches against Brazil and Nicaragua showed that, but I believe there will be an improvement in the next friendly match [against Switzerland on November 17, 2022].”

Ghana is pitted in Group H alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
Ghana will kick start their tournament campaign against Portugal on November 24 before taking on Uruguay and South Korea respectively.
