The president of the Ghana beach soccer association, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has outlined the immediate programs for the association, as it look set to commence a new league season.
Speaking in an interview with SPORTS 24, he said, the association is preparing the national team for Bahamas;it also needs to start under 17 boys and girls category as well as developing the sport nationwide. He also gave a tentative period for the commencement of the national beach soccer league .
‘’2017 presents an opportunity for us to explode. The league season will hopefully start in February. Then we start preparations for Bahamas .It’s going to be challenging but we want to start under 17 boys and girls category so we would need a lot of support to push it .we also need to go to the Western, Central and Volta Regions so that beach soccer becomes nation wide’’.
The sport has been growing over the years with the scanty resources available to the association. CAL Bank is the only company, that deems it fit as it’s cooperate social responsibility to finance the league.
The black sharks recently participated in the beach soccer African cup of nations staged in Nigeria exiting in the group stages.
