Belgian-Ghanaian midfielder Dirk Asare has sealed a permanent transfer to SV Zulte Waregem, committing his future to the Belgian outfit with a three-and-a-half-year contract that includes the possibility of an additional year.

The 21-year-old holding midfielder makes the switch after departing Lierse SK, where he enjoyed a productive spell and established himself as one of the side’s most reliable midfield performers.

Asare’s development pathway has seen him pass through the academies of Lommel, Westerlo, and KV Mechelen, with his breakthrough coming at Mechelen. He earned his senior debut at just 19 years old, featuring in a home fixture against Anderlecht, a moment that marked his arrival at top-flight level.

In search of regular game time and further growth, Asare moved to Lierse SK, where he quickly became a mainstay in midfield. He went on to rack up 32 appearances, earning praise for his composure, positional awareness, and work rate.

Expressing his excitement about the transfer, Asare described the move as an important step forward in his career, hailing Zulte Waregem as an ideal environment for young players to develop. He pointed to the club’s strong organisational structure and supportive technical staff as key factors behind his decision, adding that he is eager to make an immediate impact.

Zulte Waregem’s sporting director, Davy De Fauw, welcomed the midfielder’s arrival, lauding him as a promising Belgian talent who stood out during his time at Lierse. De Fauw highlighted Asare’s modern playing profile, defensive intelligence, and technical ability as qualities that will strengthen the team.
