Francis Amuzu stole the show off the bench as Gremio staged a stunning comeback to secure a 5-3 victory over Botafogo in a rollercoaster encounter at Porto Alegre.

The Belgian-Ghanaian winger was the architect behind much of the late drama, providing two crucial assists in the second half.

Gremio trailed 2-1 at halftime, but Amuzu’s introduction during first-half stoppage time sparked a dramatic turnaround. Within minutes of the restart, he delivered a perfectly timed pass to Carlos Vinicius, who equalized to make it 2-2.

Botafogo briefly regained the lead from the penalty spot, only for Gremio to respond immediately. Amuzu’s pace and vision were key as he surged down the flank and found Tetê, who slotted home to give the hosts a 4-2 advantage. Vinicius completed his hat-trick during the same spell, and Edenilson added a fifth to seal the result, before Botafogo managed a late consolation goal.

The win highlighted Amuzu’s growing influence in the 2025/26 Serie A season. The 22-year-old has now recorded two assists in two league appearances, proving his ability to change games from the wide areas.

Gremio will look to carry this attacking momentum into their next outing when they host Novo Hamburgo in the Gaucho Playoff on Saturday, February 7.
