Hearts of Oak’s Public Relations Officer, Opare Addo, has revealed that goalkeeper Benjamin Asare’s new contract includes a salary increment, aimed at securing his long-term future with the club.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper signed a two-year contract extension on Thursday, which will keep him at the club until 2027. This decision comes amid growing interest from abroad, with Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca and three unnamed French clubs reportedly showing interest in his services.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Addo explained that the new deal comes with improved financial terms.
“The contract extension will offer him an improvement on what he was previously earning,” Addo stated. “For us, once the player is happy with everything that we have offered him, it’s a good course for us.”
Asare’s stock has risen sharply in recent months thanks to his outstanding performances for the Ghana national team. He marked his debut with a clean sheet in Ghana’s 5-0 win over Chad and followed it up with another shutout against Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Since joining Hearts of Oak from Great Olympics in 2024, Asare has become an integral part of the team, earning widespread praise for his leadership, consistency, and commanding presence between the posts.
