Ghana Premier League side Berekum Chelsea has officially announced the transfer of defender Daniel Asiedu to Swiss giants FC Basel on a permanent deal.
The 20-year-old signed a contract that runs until 2026, with an option for an extension. Asiedu had completed his trials in early 2024, but his move was delayed due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
“We are pleased to inform you that our defender, Daniel Asiedu, has joined the Swiss giant, FC Basel,” the club stated.
The highly-rated defender impressed in the Ghana Premier League, attracting interest from Basel, who saw his potential and secured his signature. His transfer marks a major step in his career, offering him the chance to compete at a higher level in European football.
Asiedu follows in the footsteps of midfielder Emmanuel Essiam, another former Berekum Chelsea player who joined Basel in the 2021/22 season.
As one of Switzerland’s most successful clubs, FC Basel is renowned for developing young talents and competing at the highest levels of European football. Asiedu will now have the opportunity to showcase his abilities and continue his growth on a bigger stage.
