Black Stars midfielder, Bernard Mensah scored his first league goal for Turkish giant Besiktas JK away at Trabzonspor on Sunday.
The Ghana International who joined on loan from Kayserispor this summer netted his debut league goal as the Eagles won on the road in their season opener against a difficult team Trabzonspor who finished second last campaign.
The visitors drew first blood through Tyler Boyd’s 29th minutes strike the first time ended 1-0 to the away team.
Mensah grabbed his first league goal for the Black and Whites inside 64 minutes when he converted from the spot to make the score 2-0 with just a little over 25 minutes left on the clock.
Jeremain Lens scored 16 minutes from full time to add the icing on the cake for the visitors.
Abdulkadir Umar scored a consolation for the host in the 89th minutes of the match but that wasn’t enough to stop Besiktas from getting their first win of the season.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has a goal in one game in the Turkish top-flight to his name.
