Aduana Stars secured a 2-1 victory over Heart of Lions on Sunday afternoon, marking the home team’s second defeat of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
These two clubs faced off in a Week 9 match of the new Ghanaian top-flight league campaign, held at the Hohoe Sports Stadium.
Aduana Stars dominated the first half, making the most of their opportunities. They took an early lead in the 7th minute when Kelvin Obeng found the back of the net.
In the 39th minute, Isaac Mintah scored an equalizer and extended Aduana Stars’ lead before the halftime whistle.
Following the halftime break, Heart of Lions improved their performance as they sought to mount a comeback.
Although Mustapha Yakubu managed to score for the home team in the 73rd minute, they couldn’t complete the comeback.
Aduana Stars held on to secure a 2-1 victory against Heart of Lions, earning all three points in the process.
This victory propelled Aduana Stars to the top of the Ghana Premier League table, while Heart of Lions remained at the bottom of the standings.
