Online sports betting company betPawa has reportedly withdrawn its sponsorship as the headline sponsor of the Ghana Premier League, according to an information obtained from Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s journalist Michael Okuley.
In 2022, betPawa signed a sponsorship deal with the Ghana Football Association worth $6 million, which was initially set to run for three years.
However, outfit understands that the online betting company has decided not to continue sponsoring the Ghanaian top-flight league after just one year.
The reasons for their withdrawal are not provided in detail, and their decision to withdraw their sponsorship is described as ‘shocking’.
Sportsworldghana sources also confirm that, the decision not to continue have already been agreed between the FA and betPawa few days ago and are waiting for an official communique from the FA.
Before Betpawa’s involvement, the league had endured several seasons without a headline sponsor.
