Bibiani GoldStars have made history by clinching their first-ever Ghana Premier League (GPL) title, following a dominant 4-0 victory over already-relegated Accra Lions on the final day of the 2024/25 season.
This remarkable achievement comes just four years after the club earned promotion to Ghana’s top-flight league, marking a meteoric rise for the Bibiani-based side.
Heading into the final matchday, GoldStars knew that only a win would guarantee their championship dreams without relying on results from other fixtures. As fate would have it, their closest challengers, Nations FC and Asante Kotoko, both dropped points—clearing the path for GoldStars to seize the title.
At a fully packed Duns Park, the Miners wasted no time asserting themselves. Just four minutes in, Abdul Farouk Amoaful opened the scoring, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
By the 19th minute, the lead was doubled when Kelvin Oppong calmly slotted home from a well-placed cross on the right flank.
Though Accra Lions began to see more of the ball as the game progressed, they struggled to create any meaningful chances. GoldStars, on the other hand, remained composed and clinical.
After the break, Samuel Atta Kumi added a third to put the result beyond doubt. Moments later, Frank Amankwah completed the rout, sealing a sensational victory that secured GoldStars’ place in Ghanaian football history.
With this triumph, Bibiani GoldStars have not only captured their maiden league title but also announced themselves as a rising force in Ghana’s football landscape.
