Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has revealed how he has been planning with his deputy Andre Ayew to end the country’s long wait for a fifth African title.
Coach Kwasi Appiah and his charges will have the chance to bring an end to Ghana’s trophy drought at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations which will be staged in June in a yet to be announced country.
The Black Stars last have not won the prestigious title since last winning it in 1982 in Libya.
Nonetheless, the four-time African champions have missed three finals- 1992, 2010 and 2015.
“We all know the task ahead going to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. We have to end the jinx this time, “Gyan told Accra-based Asempa FM.
“I have been planning how to win the trophy with my deputy captain Andre Ayew. Any time I get the chance to talk to him, we plan on how best to win the trophy.
”The strategy to adopt aside technical issues and other things because Ghanaians are expecting us to win the ultimate.
“There should be no excuses because as players we have to be up to the task and do what Ghanaians expect from us in order to make them happy.”
Coach Kwasi Appiah as part of his two-year contract with the Ghana Football Association has been tasked to win this year’s edition of the African Cup of Nations trophy.
