Head coach for Ghana’s Black Stars Charles Kwablan Akonnor has praised striker Joel Fameyeh on his Ghana debut against Morocco.
The coach who was speaking to the media after the 1-0 loss to the Atlas Lions was full of praise and admiration of Russia-based striker Fameyeh.
When quizzed about the team and the player who surprised him in the match, the gaffer singled out former Asokwa Deportivo SC striker Joel Fameyeh who made his first appearance for Ghana at senior level.
“I think Joel Fameyeh played really well throughout the minutes he spent on the field and I am satisfied with his work rate and performance on his debut appearance for the Black Stars”, Akonnor said after the game.
The 24-year-old before Black Stars debut previously featured for the Black Stars B in 2015 – 16 during his days in the Division One League Zone Two with Asokwa Deportivo SC.
Fameyeh also played for the national U23, the Black Meteors of Ghana and was part of the team that secured qualification to the 2019 CAF U23 Championships in Egypt but was not permitted to participate in the tournament by his club FC Orenburg in Russia.
After impressing the head of the technical team of the Black Stars, Fameyeh could be given a role on Saturday in Ghana’s game against neighbors Ivory Coast in Cape Coast.
