In Clermont Foot’s Ligue 1 season opener against AS Monaco, Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu made his first contribution of the season with a goal, despite his team’s defeat.
Starting as the right-back for Clermont Foot, Seidu showcased his skills as his team suffered a 4-2 loss against Mohammed Salisu’s AS Monaco.
Clermont Foot began brightly with an early goal from Mateusz Wieteska in the seventh minute. However, AS Monaco responded swiftly with a goal from Vanderson, followed by Wissam Ben Yedder’s strike that gave them the lead just before halftime.
In the second half, Seidu played a key role in setting up Muhammed-Cham Saracevic for the equalizing goal. Nevertheless, Ben Yedder once again regained Monaco’s lead with a goal, securing it with around twenty minutes remaining in the match.
As Clermont Foot pursued an equalizer, AS Monaco extended their lead further during injury time with a goal from Maghnes Akliouche.
Seidu’s compatriot and Black Stars teammate, Mohammed Salisu, was not included in the squad for the match. Additionally, Myron Boadu, a Ghanaian born in the Netherlands, made a late appearance for Monaco.
