Former Ghana Black Stars coach, C.K. Akonnor, has expressed his optimism about the team’s future under the current manager, Otto Addo.

In an interview with Citi Sports, Akonnor praised Ghana’s recent comeback victories over Mali and the Central African Republic (C.A.R.), indicating that these wins signal a promising future for the team.

Akonnor was particularly impressed with the team’s solid play in the away match against Mali, where he noted that the attacking line performed admirably in counter-attack situations. He also highlighted the team’s three-goal haul in the second match, a feat he believes is worth appreciating.

“It is very hopeful I saw the match against Mali it is an away match the way we played was solid I was very happy with our attacking line the way we played soak them and attack counter-attack situation,” he said.

“So it looks very hopeful the second match we saw our team score three goals I think it is been a while that we scored such goals three goals so we need to appreciate it.

“Of course, there are things coach he himself made mention of it they have to improve in that area and for a coach I understand and I think the future is hopeful,” Akonnor added.

Otto Addo, who is in his second stint as the Black Stars’ manager, recently guided Ghana to two crucial wins in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. His current task is to secure Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the USA.

Ghana is currently in a strong position in Group I of the qualifiers, sitting second with nine points, level with Comoros after four games.
