Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Rabiu has joined Russian side Tambov FC on a one-year deal with another one year contract extension option.
The 31-year-old began his European journey with Spanish team “Gimnastic” during the 2007-08 season.
The Ghana International Rabiu, moved to Italy, where he first played at Sampdoria and later at Udinese . However, he never played a single match for these clubs in Serie A.
In 2010, Mohammed continued with his career in France he became a player of Evian and quickly established himself in the squad and also helped his team to gain promotion into Ligue 1 , where he made his debut on August 6, 2011 in the match against Brest .
On November 17, 2012, Rabiu scored his first goal of his career against Saint-Etienne . In the 2012/13 season. reached the final of the French Cup with Evian, where his team lost to Bordeaux (2: 3). In total, in France, Rabiu has 70 matches and 2 goals scored.
In the summer of 2013, Rabiu signed a contract with Russian side Kuban . He made his debut in the Russian championship on August 25 with a match against Ural . He scored his first goal on May 3, 2014 against Krylia Sovetov . For three seasons in Krasnodar he was a stable player in the main team and made 56 first team appearances.
In 2016, Rabiu became an Anji player , but the injury he received at the training camp and long-term rehabilitation left him without football for a long time. The Ghanaian footballer returned to the field only in 2018, playing for Anji against Ural . After spending 12 games in the Makhachkala club in the autumn segment of the 2018/19 season, he moved to Samara, signing a contract with Wings of the Soviets . As part of Samara played 11 matches, after which he left the team.
In total, at the moment in the Russian career of Rabiu there are 79 matches.
Mohammed’s last club to date was Paris , playing in the first French division. As part of the capital’s team, the midfielder played 14 games and scored one goal (against Sochaux ).
In addition to his club career, Rabiu played for the Ghana national team for a long time . In 2009, he became the world youth champion, and as part of the main team he took part in the 2013 African Cup of Nations and the 2014 World Cup .
