The Chief Executive Officer of Databank, and staunch supporter of Asante Kotoko, Kojo Addae- Mensah, has said the Ayew brothers should not be called to the senior national football team, the Black Stars of Ghana because they are a distraction to the team and the team performs well during their absence.
The Ayew brothers, Jordan and Dede have not received call-ups since last September when the Black Stars played against Congo at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
There have been reports that Coach Kwesi Appiah has ousted these players from his team and they might not be called for subsequent matches in the foreseeable future.
Despite Jordan Ayew’s incredible form for Swansea City in the 2017/18 season, winning his clubs best player of the season, he was overlooked in Ghana’s double header friendly games against Japan and Iceland.
These two players retired during Kwesi Appiah’s first tenure as Coach of the Black Stars but had to resume national duty after a meeting with then former President John Dramani Mahama.

“The absence of the Ayew brothers is not a bother to me at all. They bring unnecessary distraction to the team. Anytime they are out of the Black Stars, the team does well”, he told Accra based radio station Happy FM when asked about the exclusion of the Ayew brothers from the upcoming Black Stars AFCON qualifier against Kenya in September.
He also stated that Kelvin Prince Boateng who has been suspended from the team indefinitely should never be called in to the team. Kelvin was suspended from the team’s camp at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil for insubordination.

He also proposed that Thomas Teye Partey should be named as the substantive captain in the absence of Asamoah Gyan. The Atletico man has captain the team in the absence of Gyan in the last two games played against Japan and Iceland.
Head coach Kwesi Appiah has stated emphatically that, Asamoah Gyan remains the captain of the Black Stars until a new captain is announced.
