Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Dr. Randy Abbey, has announced plans to strengthen Ghana’s technical team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
He explained that the move is part of efforts to ensure the national team performs better after failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The current setup already includes experienced names such as Winfried Schäfer, Desmond Ofei, and Gregory De Grauwe.
Dr. Abbey emphasized that the goal is not to replace head coach Otto Addo, but rather to improve the support system around him — focusing on scouting, video analysis, and the medical department.
He added that before every major tournament, additional experts are brought in to boost the team’s technical and tactical capabilities.
Meanwhile, John Paintsil and Fatau Dauda remain key members of the technical team.
The Black Stars will find out their group-stage opponents for the 2026 World Cup on December 5.
