Bofoakwa Tano have been relegated to Division Two after finishing 7th in Zone 1B of the 2024/25 Access Bank Division One League, marking a devastating second consecutive drop for the historic Sunyani-based club.
Following their relegation from the Ghana Premier League at the end of the 2023/24 season, Bofoakwa were hopeful of a swift return to top-flight football. However, their struggles continued in Division One, as they managed just 28 points from 28 matches with a goal difference of -10, finishing second from bottom.
Their placement means they fall below the survival threshold in Zone 1B, as per the head-to-head and points system applied in the Ghana Football Association’s regulations.
Bofoakwa’s campaign was marred by inconsistency and a lack of cutting edge, both defensively and offensively, which ultimately saw them finish behind the likes of K.A.C Soccer Academy, Wamanafo Mighty Royals, and Debibi United — all of whom battled for mid-table safety.
This latest relegation sends Bofoakwa Tano to the third tier of Ghana football, a dramatic fall for a club with such rich history and passionate support. Just two seasons ago, the club was playing Premier League football, but now face the task of rebuilding from Division Two.
Supporters and stakeholders will now demand a major overhaul, as the once-proud club seeks a revival after one of the most difficult periods in its history.
