Botswana is the first country to announce its squad for the upcoming 2025 AFCON to be hosted in North Africa by Morocco.

The 36th edition of the coveted Africa Cup of Nations is just 37 days away from the big kick-off, and the Motswana head coach, Morena Ramoreboli’s side will pitch camp in Tunisia to get acclimatised to the weather in North Africa.

The 44-year-old South African gaffer has announced a 55-man squad to commence preparations.

The team’s preparations include friendly games against decent opponents and also getting used to life in the northern part of Africa.

The 55-man squad will be trimmed to just 26, which is what CAF will require for the AFCON.

The squad has seven goalkeepers, 14 defenders, 16 midfielders and 18 attackers.

Home-based players from clubs like Gaborone United, Jwaneng Galaxy, Township Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs are part of the squad.

Algeria’s MC Oran’s Gape Mohutsiwa, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe of Libya’s Al-Ittihad, Richard’s Bay’s Benson Mangolo, Tumisang Orebonye of Wydad Club of Morocco, Kabelo Seakanyeng of Morocco’s Mas Fes and Libya’s Al Shomooa’s Thero Setsile are some of the foreign-based players in the team.
