SportsworldGhana.com can authoritatively report that two of the most unwavering defenders for Kotoko and Hearts of Oak respectively, Ahmed Adams and Vincent Atinga has been given a call up to the Black Stars B side for their hurdle against the Stallions of Burkina Faso for a place in next year’s CHAN tournament to be staged in Kenya.
The Stars stunned their counterparts on Saturday when Saddick Adams put Maxwell Konadu’s side into the lead but was cancelled out minutes later by the hosts.
The Stars restored their lead in the second half through Gideon Waja after a delightful one -two play with Winful Cobbinah which ended at the back for the net with a sublime finish, The Gahanains looked buoyant and were cruising on to victory from there on but their defensive frailty showed up once as the Burkinabe drew level .
Ahmed’s inclusion can help stabilize the back as he has been the most consistent performer for Kotoko this season and with two to his credit.
Vincent Atinga has equally been outstanding in some games for the Phobians and the news will come as a delight to the lanky defender.
Confirming the news to our outfit, Atinga said ”Yes I have been invited by the coaches to join the Black Stars ‘B’ team ahead of our match against Burkina Faso”.
I’m happy for the call up because it’s always a great feeling to represent a country like Ghana at the senior national team level”.
He added ”I am looking forward to helping the team qualify next year’s tournament in Kenya”.
The Stars will arrive in Kumasi on Monday and will have their first training session at the Baba Yara Stadium this Afternoon as preparations continue for the return leg on Sunday at the same venue.
