Ghana legend and former Captain Asamoah Gyan has been left out of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League squad announced by Legon Cities FC, Sportsworldghana.com can confirm.
The Royals have announced a 27 man squad for the Ghana Premier League but excluded their star signing for last season.
Cities list came out on Friday evening with the all time Ghana top scorer’s name missing from the list to kick-start their campaign.
The former Sunderland striker sigined for the Legon based side a year ago, but was hugely affected by chronic injuries which prevented him from playing a big role in the team and making only 6 appearance mainly coming on from the bench, his exclusion from the squad according to sources close to the club is to allow him treat himself, and get back fully fit.
It is undoubtly that a fully fit Asamoah Gyan would walk into the starting lineup in all the 18 clubs competing in the league but for injury concerns preventing the topmost star from playing regularly.
Legon Cities FC will play as the away team to champions Accra Hearts of Oak SC in their season opener.
