Dutch Eredivisie giant AFC Ajax Amsterdam are refusing to give up Ghana star Kudus Mohammed to play for the Black Stars at the next AFCON in Cameroon, Sportsworldghana.com can report.
According to Telegraaf journalist Jeroen Kapteijns, the four-time UEFA Champions League winners coach, Erik Ten Hag sees it as suicidal to allow the player to play for Ghana next month.
If it is up to Ajax, Mohammed Kudus will not play at the Africa Cup in the new year. The club does not want to give up the Ghanaian.
Mohammed Kudus has been battling with injuries for 1.5 years since he joined the club and is now recovering from injury he sustained in Ghana’s FIFA World Cup Qualifier against South Africa last month.
“Ten Hag has indicated @AFCAjax would not be willing to have #Kudus go to the Africa Cup. The Ghanaian has been struggling with injuries for 1.5 years and the Ajax coach thinks it is very unwise for Kudus to play such a tough tournament without any match fitness”, we talk Ajax wrote on Twitter.
His absence could be very detrimental to Ghana’s performance at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament which starts in January in Cameroon.
