AS Roma teenage sensation Felix Ohene Afena-Gyan has rejected Black Stars call-up for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament, Sportsworldghana.com can confirm.
Afena-Gyan was named in the Black Stars 30-man provisional squad for the pre-tournament camping in Doha, Qatar which has already started.
According to our trusted source at the youngster’s camp Italy, the youngster will continue to stay with his club as he prefers to concentrate on his youth development during the Africa Cup of Nations period.
The 18-year-old versatile forward declined an earlier invitation during the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and South Africa in the month of November and this will be the second time of turning his back on Ghana.
When the youngster turned down Ghana in November, his agent Oliver Arthur confirmed that the boy is keen to work hard under José Mourinho for his development and will represent Ghana at the international level at the right time.
The teen sensation has made five appearances and scored two goals and two assists for senior team since getting promotion to the Roma senior team.
The Black Stars have opened camp in Doha, Qatar ahead of the tournament with nine players present at the team’s training on day one.
