Celtic Manager Brendan Rodgers is already looking back at his former Leicester City charges as he looks to bolster his squad at Parkhead.
TEAMtalk reports that Amartey is under strong consideration by Rodgers as a potential first signing
The Ghana international featured 20 times in the Premier League last season, with 18 of those appearances coming as starts.
Amartey has been with Leicester since their league winning campaign of 2015-16, joining from Danish side Copenhagen FC in January 2016.
While he has never been a central figure to the side, he has proven a useful squad player over the years.
His versatility has been a key asset as the player can play in midfield as well as defence, which could be quite useful for Celtic.
But the Scottish side also faces competition from clubs in both Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
Rodgers proved a massive success during his two and a half years in Glasgow. He won back to back Scottish Premiership trebles, adding a seventh.
The 28-year-old is a free agent after leaving Leicester at the end of the season. He spent eight seasons at the King Power, featuring 145 times for the Foxes.
Amartey, who can cover in defence or midfield, has been talking with clubs in Turkey over a possible move. There is also interest in him from Saudi Arabia too.
However, we understand there is a chance he could move to Celtic, with the Bhoys ready to contact his agent.
