BRISTOL CITY are in line for a significant payday should Antoine Semenyo make an anticipated January move.
The Robins sold the Ghanaian to Bournemouth in 2023 for a fee of £10million.
But they are expected to make even more than that fee back again thanks to a clever clause inserted into the deal.
The Championship club are entitled to 20 per cent of any profit that Bournemouth may sell the forward for in the future. Several top clubs are circling for Semenyo, who carries a £65million price tag thanks to a release clause in his Cherries contract.
If one of them pull the trigger on the clause then Bristol City might soon be pocketing something in the region of £11MILLION for a player who hasn’t kicked a ball for them in almost three years.
Manchester City seem to be leading the race for the winger, who turns 26 on Wednesday. Pep Guardiola recently vented his frustration about being repeatedly asked about the saga, but it is understood that the club have already agreed personal terms with the player. But interest has also been shown from a host of other clubs, including Spurs and Liverpool.
Whether the Robins would receive their chunk of any transfer fee in a lump sum or in instalments would depend on the deal’s structure, but any cash injection would be welcomed by manager Gerhard Struber.
The club currently sit ninth in the Championship table and are chasing a play-off spot.
