Aduana Stars – by scoring 6 goals against Fosa Juniors of Madagascar – have become the highest scoring Ghanaian side in a single CAF Confederation Cup match.
The Dormaa-based has made a bold statement with the 6-1 mauling of visitors in the first leg of their playoff tie against the Madagascar representative.
The Confederation Cup which started in 2004 have seen Ghanaian clubs like Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, King Faisal, Liberty Professionals, Berekum Arsenal, Medeama, New Edubiase United, Bechem United compete in it but until Sunday in Dormaa no Ghanaian side had scored six goals in a game.
The record was held by Liberty Professionals and Hearts of Oak. Liberty defeated Petro du Huambo 5-1 in Round of 32 in the edition of 2004 whilst Hearts of Oak recored a 5-1 win over Sable FC of Cameroon in Accra in the group stages of the same edition.
