Asante Kotoko head coach Maxwell Konadu is hopeful that the Porcupine Warriors will seal passage to the next phase of the CAF Champions League.
Kotoko were held to a 1-1 draw by Mauritanian side Nouadhibou in their 2020-21 Caf Champions League opener on Sunday.
Forward Osman Ibrahim shot the Porcupine Warriors ahead in the first half before Hemeya Tanjy drew the hosts level in the preliminary round first leg fixture at Stade Cheikha Ould Boidiya.
“A draw is not a bad result but I think that if officiating was good, we could have won the game,” coach Konadu said after the game.
“However, a Champions League 1-1 away draw is better than a goalless stalemate.
“We have taken the 1-1 result in good faith, we will go home and work harder to ensure we beat them by at least one or two unanswered goals so we can progress to the next stage,” he added.
Kotoko will host The Mauritanian side in the reverse leg on December 6, with the aggregate winners progressing to the next round of the competition where a date with Al Hilal Club of Sudan or Ugandan outfit Vipers awaits.
