The 2025-26 CAF Champions League commenced on Friday with Sudanese giants Al-Hilal Omdurman recording an important 2-1 win at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali. Veteran Sudanese striker Mohamed Andulrahaman scored the winner with his first touch of the game in the second half.

On Saturday, South African champions Sundowns in Pretoria opened their campaign with a 3-1 win over debutants St Eloi Lupopo. A brace from Nuno Santos and a goal from Marcelo Allende help the Brazilians commence their campaign on a good note. Wanet Kashala’s goal was a consolation for the visitors.

Young Africans in Zanzibar pipped Moroccan side FAR Rabat by a lone goal scored by Prince Dube in the 58th minute.

Defending champions Pyramids commenced their title defence with a 3-0 smashing of Nigerian side Rivers United. 22-year-old Egyptian midfielder Ahmed Atef scored a second-half hat-trick to condemn the Nigerians to a defeat.

Stade Malien drew goalless in Tunisia against Tunisian champions Esperance Tunis.

A brace from Trezeguet, a goal from Sherif and an own goal from Hadid ensured that 12th times champions Al Ahly pulverised JS Kabylie by 4-1.

Moroccan champions RS Berkane thrashed Zambian side Power Dynamos by 3-0 with Chouiar and Paul Bassene on target.

Simba SC of Tanzania will round up Round One with a visit of the Angolan side Petro Luanda on Sunday afternoon.
