The Ghanaian-born Burkinabe Mandela Ocansey captained Horoya AC to 1-0 victory at FC Platinum in Zimbabwe on Saturday during Day 3 of the CAF Champions league.
The Guineans clinched all maximum three points courtesy Marius Assoko’s penalty.
Ocansey expressed excitement after the Champions League victory.
“This win is good for us and it revives the club in the group. We must now fight to get out of this group. I felt a flurry of malaria before this match, which has made me tired since we arrived in Bulawayo. But I gave the best of myself to play and make my contribution to the victory of our team.
“As this victory also comes on my birthday, I can only rejoice. I am very happy with the team because it is team spirit that has prevailed.”
Godfred Asante, Hudu Yakubu and Sebe Baffour were also in action for Horoya but former Hearts of Oak winger Patrick Razak was unused substitute.
